The Institute of National Colleges of Technology, Japan (INCT) set up the Center for International Student Exchange (CISE) in Okinawa KOSEN in April 2009. Its aim is to support KOSEN as a nationwide common facility to carry out internationalization activities.
INCT promotes the internationalization of KOSEN throughout Japan, specifying it in the medium-term goals and plans of KOSEN. The establishment of CISE is one of the symbolic actions taking a step forward for internationalization.
These activities are based on exchanging students and faculty with overseas institutions. CISE gathers international students in KOSEN to get to know each other, and KOSEN internationalization will develop more rapidly through support from the CISE. Moreover, INCT promotes international activities conducted by individual KOSEN or by cooperation with other KOSEN.
