"Evolving technical college"
Purpose/background
In response to strong demands from the industry, National College of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Technical College") offers excellent practice in an educational system different from the 5-6-3-3 system through a 4-year integrated education starting from the junior high school graduation stage. It was established in 37 as a higher education institution to train professional engineers, and a two-year major was established in 4.
The characteristics of technical college education include practical education that emphasizes experiments and practical training, enriched specialized education with a wedge-shaped curriculum, education through cooperation with industry such as internships, instruction in student dormitories, and robot competitions, professional computers, design designs, etc. This includes holistic education that fosters student autonomy through a variety of extracurricular activities.
Through this kind of engineer education, technical colleges have cultivated excellent human resources who will help Japan become a nation based on science and technology creation, and have sent out more than 30 engineers into the world, receiving high praise from industry and others. .
Now, in the December 20 report of the Central Council for Education, these achievements were highly evaluated, and in the future, creative and educational institutions that can contribute to the inheritance and development of Japan's manufacturing technology and the creation of innovation were announced. We are calling for further enhancement of technical college education with the aim of training practical engineers.
In response to this request, technical colleges are reorganizing their education to meet the new needs of industry, implementing problem-based learning (PBL) that fosters students' creativity and problem-solving skills, and implementing joint education through close collaboration with industry. By strengthening and promoting (COOP education) and international exchange, we aim to develop practical engineers with rich sensibilities and creativity who can play an active role with a global perspective. We will continue to evolve to develop even higher quality practical engineers who can play an active role in the promotion of local industry from the perspective of "Think Globally Act Locally."
BodyAs we celebrate the 24th anniversary of the founding of the technical college system in 50, we will reaffirm the origins of the technical college system, accurately grasp changes in society and technology, and contribute to the sustainable development of Japanese industry. We will continue to develop various projects with the determination to further evolve the technical college system so that we can continue to contribute.
