Technical College GCON2021 (Technical College GIRLS SDGs x Technology Contest) Application Guidelines

◇Purpose

The National College of Technology will hold the College of Technology GCON2021 (Technical College GIRLS SDGs x Technology Contest) in order to further disseminate the abilities of female college students to the world.
In this contest, as a future researcher / engineer, the participating students will understand the idea of ​​SDGs and think about how the research and learning they are doing can contribute to social issues from the viewpoint of SDGs. I expect it to grow.
This time, it will be held as a pre-convention for next year's "60th Anniversary of the College System".

◇Participation conditions

・Individual or student teams (2 to 6 people) of female students enrolled in regular courses or specialized courses at national, public, or private colleges of technology nationwide (If participating in a team, male students may also participate, but the leader must be a female student and (At least half of the team should be female students.)
・Those who can participate in all orientation sessions (recordings can be viewed)
・To proceed with this entry, you will need to register as a support teacher.

◇Recruitment theme

・We are broadly soliciting ideas for technological development aimed at solving various social issues centered on SDGs.
・We recommend ideas that include technological development that takes into account gender differences (biological and sociological).
- New markets and business opportunities that have never existed before, including things that will lead to the creation of innovations that solve the SDGs, including not only new medical treatments, products, processes, and services, but also agriculture, fisheries, the global environment, a recycling society, etc. I look forward to ideas that will lead to this.

The theme was "How can your ideas contribute to solving social issues from the perspective of SDGs?"Report of about 4 A1 pageplease submit.

Please use the entry sheet to create a report that is approximately 4 A1 page.

The deadline is Friday, November 11th.

Targets various initiatives to address social issues centered on SDGs.
You can propose ideas that are not yet at the demonstration stage of technology development, but please explain how your existing research and learning can be useful.

◇About briefing session/orientation

(1)About the briefing session
The event will be held on September 9nd (Wednesday). Details of the schedule and distribution method will be communicated to those who have registered for pre-entry (recordings can be viewed).
We will explain the contest content, orientation content, and main entry (primary assignment).

(2) About orientation
Four sessions are scheduled from early October to early November (all recordings available for viewing).
Details of the schedule and distribution method will be communicated to pre-entry registrants.
In order to improve the content of the challenges, we invited experts and corporate mentors who are active in various industries as lecturers, and we talked about themes such as "SDGs", "technology (technological development focusing on gender differences, etc.)", "diversity", etc. Orientation will be held.

◇About production tasks

・Teams proceeding to the main entry must submit the primary task listed in the "Participation Procedures" above by Friday, November 11th. From the teams that have advanced to the main entry, 19 to 6 teams will be selected in early December to participate in the final selection (results presentation).
・Teams proceeding to the final round (results presentation) must submit the secondary assignments listed in the "Participation Procedures" above by Friday, January 1th.

◇About the finals (results presentation)

・Date: January 4, 1 (Sat) 22:13-30:17
・Video distribution created for the secondary assignment (5 minutes) + live Q&A (5 minutes)
・Live and archive distribution via Nikkei Channel
・The contest will be published in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

◇Awards and supplementary prizes

Awards and supplementary prizes are planned, including the "GCON Award" (tentative name), "Special Audience Award" (tentative name), and "Sponsoring Company Award" (tentative name).

◇About screening

-Jurors are scheduled to include experts (famous people), technical college teachers, Nihon Keizai Shimbun reporters, etc.
・Entries will be judged based on evaluation items such as understanding of the SDGs, innovation perspective (inventiveness and impact on society), technology perspective (realism for social implementation), and presentation.

◇ Things to keep in mind

- Ideas that have already been presented in other contests can also be submitted.
・We cannot respond to individual inquiries regarding screening results.
・If you wish to use someone else's copyrighted work in an assignment or video, it is your responsibility to obtain permission in advance before applying.
・The copyright of the primary and secondary assignments belongs to the applicant. However, the organizer and executive committee may use and reproduce it free of charge to the extent necessary for the judging process.
- Portraits of participants may be taken in photos or videos at contests, etc., and introduced in various media. In addition, the technical college names of the teams that advanced to the final round (results presentation), names of participants, and presentation content may be introduced in various media. Please be aware of this before applying.
・Personal information obtained through this contest will not be used for any purpose other than administrative operations.
