General and specialized subjects studied at technical colleges

General and specialized subjects studied at technical colleges

Taking advantage of the features of a 5-year integrated education,
General subjects and specialized subjects that provide a solid foundation of knowledge,
A unique and well-balanced education is provided.

Classes/General subjects

General subjects are aimed at acquiring a rich knowledge in order to develop excellent engineers with a broad perspective, and learning the academic basics in order to acquire specialized knowledge and techniques in each field of engineering. It is established for the purpose of
The number of credits taken in general subjects is approximately 49% of the total number of credits required for graduation, but 1% of them must be taken in the first to third years, mainly in basic liberal arts subjects, and then in the fourth and fifth years. Now, you will be studying highly specialized liberal arts subjects.

Specialized Courses

Each technical college has three to seven of the following specialized departments, and basic and specialized subjects are effectively arranged in a wedge shape, taking advantage of the five-year integrated education system. The curriculum is designed to encourage students to increase their understanding and problem-solving skills at each stage of their studies.

Additionally, technical colleges are equipped with experimental and research facilities befitting higher education institutions, and in order to acquire the ability to apply what has been learned, emphasis is placed on experiments and practical training, in addition to theory.

Specialized Courses

  • 01 Department of Mechanical Engineering Department of Materials Engineering
Students will systematically study specialized subjects essential for the design and development of systems such as robots. They will acquire solid fundamental skills, flexible imagination, and application skills that will enable them to respond to the technological innovations of the new era.
  • 02 Department of Electrical and Electronic Systems
Students will learn a wide range of knowledge and technology related to connecting and controlling electricity, electronics, and devices, including electricity, home appliances, and robots. They will acquire specialized knowledge and application skills required in a wide range of fields.
  • 03 Department of Information Systems
Students will learn about a wide range of subjects, including computer systems, software, programming, security, and communication and network technologies, which underpin the modern information society, and acquire solid fundamental skills and flexible imagination in information engineering.
  • 04 Construction Department Department of Architecture Department
Students will learn about spatial design, operation and maintenance of constructed structures such as bridges, rivers, underground spaces, railways and waterworks, as well as urban planning and landscape design, and will also learn about housing and urban development, which are the foundations for people's lives.
  • 05 Chemistry and Biology
Students will learn a wide range of subjects, including science and technology for developing and producing chemical and pharmaceutical materials, biotechnology, and recycling and environmental improvement technologies for building a sustainable society in harmony with the environment.
  • 06 Merchant Marine Department
There is a Navigation Course for those aiming to become navigators or captains, and an Engineering Course for those aiming to become engineers or chief engineers. Both courses incorporate many experiments and practical training and students study a wide range of subjects to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for maritime-related jobs such as ship operation.
  • 07 Departments in fields that respond to social needs
This department was established to be able to flexibly respond to the needs of industry and society, and to be able to keep up with social changes and diverse developments in the economy.
We nurture business people who can succeed internationally.
  • 08 Comprehensive Studies
