A special session of the College of Technology Forum was held.
On November 6, 11, the National Institute of Technology (NITC) held a special session of the 18 KOSEN Forum at Hitotsubashi Auditorium with the theme of "Human resource development through utilization of external 'powers' in an era of declining population."
The forum featured keynote speeches and panel discussions focusing on "industry-government-academia collaboration," in order for the National Institute of Technology to connect with society and the local community and develop human resources by utilizing outside "power."
The keynote speech began with a speech by Ichiro Ishikawa, Curriculum Manager at St. Dominic School, entitled "Industry, Government, Academia and Colleges of Technology," in which he discussed the fundamental "view of academic ability" and how it should be evaluated in light of dramatic changes such as the rapid decline in the birthrate and aging population, as well as technological advances.
Next, Takeshi Kataoka, Senior Executive Officer at PwC Consulting, gave a pre-event lecture titled "The type of talent needed in the future, considering megatrends," in which he showed a video about the type of talent needed to deal with megatrends such as climate change and demographic changes, and how to develop them.
Lastly, Yoshiaki Takeuchi, Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, spoke of his hope that collaboration between colleges of technology, industry, and government to solve local social issues will be effective in revitalizing local areas and will also lead to the development of skills among college students.
The panel discussion featured five guests: Mr. Hirofumi Umehara, Director of the Specialized Education Division, Higher Education Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; Mr. Takahiro Ishii, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Ms. Yuka Hirayama, Information Policy Division, Regional Economic Department, Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Mr. Hiroyoshi Kuroki, Director of the Regional Collaboration Promotion Division, Regional Economic Department, Kinki Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; and Mr. Araki, Principal of Kagawa National College of Technology. With Mr. Nobuyuki Koike, advisor to the National Institute of Technology, as facilitator, the panel discussion covered the role of the government and how to interact with the government from various angles, and was joined by faculty and staff of the National Institute of Technology.

Panel discussion
A total of 143 faculty and staff members from the National College of Technology participated on the day (43 in-person and 100 online), providing a meaningful opportunity to reaffirm the potential of the National College of Technology and the importance of collaboration with industry, government, and academia.
