The 3rd National College of Technology Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Contest was held.

The 6rd National College of Technology Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Contest was held at Hitotsubashi Hall (Tokyo) on Sunday, December 12, 22. The contest featured presentations by 3 teams, a poster session, and a final judging session, with Hakodate National College of Technology winning the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award.
The team's winning theme, "Turning an Outboard Motor into a Generator - Providing Electricity to Disaster-stricken Areas," was born from the team's experience of realizing the importance of securing electricity and information during disasters during the 2018 Iburi Eastern Earthquake. It utilized the power generation function of an outboard motor as a local disaster prevention measure, and was highly praised by the judges.
