Panasonic × KOSEN Partnership Agreement ~ Pilot School Visits to Manufacturing Training Center ~

The National Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as the National Institute of Technology) selected Anan College of Technology and Nara College of Technology as pilot schools in consultation with Panasonic, based on the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on Cultivating Next-Generation Manufacturing Human Resources concluded on November 5. On January 28, teachers from both colleges visited Panasonic's training facility, the "Manufacturing Training Center," in Hirakata City, and toured the facility.

The purpose of this visit was to deepen mutual understanding between the pilot school's faculty and staff and Panasonic employees, and to discuss the possibility of future collaboration. Through the tour, they shared their challenges, perspectives, and goals regarding human resource development, and confirmed their intention to realize initiatives that will benefit both parties.

During the tour of the "Monozukuri Training Center," I was impressed by how closely the training content was linked to actual workplaces and actions. I also realized once again that a deep understanding of the basics and safety is extremely important in the workplace of manufacturing.

During the general exchange of opinions, opinions were expressed on developing the ability to think, such as "There are many answers where 1 + 1 is not 2. We live in an age where we must always come up with better answers," and on industry-academia collaboration education, such as "Seeing adults grow will also lead to students' growth."

In the subsequent group work at each pilot school, opinions were expressed such as, "There are an increasing number of teachers and employees with no outside experience, so contact with the outside world is an opportunity for growth," "Even if a company just says, 'This is how we use it,' it becomes an example of career education," and "Continuing to be involved as a part-time lecturer changes the way it is perceived and the respect it receives from students."

Through the group work, the participants realized that collaboration would not continue unless there was benefit for both the college and Panasonic, and that it was necessary to not only seek resources from the other party, but also to consider what value the resources provided would lead to as they worked together.

Going forward, the National Institute of Technology and Panasonic will work together to advance education in order to realize the philosophy of "developing people before making things."
