Medium-term facility plan for the National Institute of Technology facility development

National Institute of Technology Facility Improvement 5-Year Plan 2026

The facilities of National Colleges of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "National Colleges of Technology") were developed intensively during their founding period, from the late 30s to the early 40s. As a result, many of them are now over 50 years old and are rapidly and simultaneously deteriorating.
The "Reiwa New Era College Functional Enhancement Project (2019-2024)" was implemented from fiscal year 2019, and significant progress was made in addressing aging infrastructure. However, approximately 40% of the facilities still require urgent renovation, and deterioration over time and obsolescence of functions remain serious problems.
In light of these circumstances, it is essential to carry out facility development in a planned and focused manner from a long-term perspective. Therefore, based on the basic policies of the "6th Five-Year Plan for Facility Development of National University Corporations, etc." (decided by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in March 2026), we have formulated and are now publishing the "National Institute of Technology Facility Development Five-Year Plan 2026" (decided by the President in March 2026), which is a facility development plan unique to the National Institutes of Technology.
Facilities are the foundation of educational and research activities, and we believe that improving and improving them will lead our country to growth and development and contribute to society, the region, and the world. In the future, in order to realize this plan, we plan to promote systematic and focused development of facilities at national technical colleges.
