On Sunday, December 2012, 12, the 9 Technical College Women's Forum in Kansai (sponsored by the National Institute of Technology) was held at the Shin-Osaka Maru Building Annex. This forum was held as part of the 2012 Technical College Reform Promotion Fund, ``Project to disseminate women's technical college brands through collaboration among female technical college students nationwide,'' and was held with the aim of communicating the abilities of female technical college students to society. doing.
As part of this project, the 3 National Technical College Women's Forum was held at the Academic Center in Takebashi, Tokyo on March 27th (Tuesday) at the end of last year. This forum was the first large-scale event to disseminate information about women in technical colleges, but it also promoted the active participation of female technical college students, technical college personnel, and female engineers.
The event was a great opportunity for companies aiming to improve their mutual understanding and exchange information. In response, this year's Technical College Women's Forum in Kansai was held in Shin-Osaka, with participation expanded to include technical colleges in the Kinki region other than schools implementing the Women's Technical College Brand Promotion Project. In the morning session, aimed at female junior high school students and their guardians, the theme was ``What kind of future awaits us at technical colleges?'' We used the technical college data book ``Technical College Women's Encyclopedia'' created by female students from nine technical colleges nationwide. 9 poster presentations were made by 10 female students from 28 technical colleges on topics such as specialized education, research content, student life, and the extracurricular activities of female technical college students.

A female junior high school student who attended said, ``Before I came today, I had no idea about technical colleges and was nervous, but now I understand them.''
A parent said, ``I used to have the impression that technical colleges were stuffy and specialized, but now I have a good impression of the word ``girls,'' and my image has changed as I realize that there are fun things to do, like club activities. I thought it was my last chance, and I'm glad I was able to come.''It seems like the students have deepened their understanding of the technical college.

At this forum, in order to get to know the female junior high school students better, we created business cards for the female junior high school students who came to the venue and set up an opportunity to exchange business cards with female technical college students, which often led to lively conversations. . Additionally, junior high school girls who collected five business cards from female technical college students were presented with ``lip balm handmade by female technical college students.'' It was very well received and people said it would be a good luck charm for entrance exams.

In the afternoon, the atmosphere was different from the morning as the first half was a poster presentation for companies interested in nurturing and promoting the success of female engineers, and female technical college students gave presentations in a tense atmosphere. The we. ``People at the company gave me advice on how to apply what I learned to my work, and I was able to realize that my studies were useful. From now on, I want to narrow my focus even more and decide what I want to do as a career.'' ”, I could sense that the female technical college students were highly motivated and were thinking carefully about their careers. A company official said, ``Part of our company's job is to solve customers' IT problems, so we are required to listen carefully to what customers have to say and solve them.Women have better communication skills and are more attentive.'' As a company, we welcome women. The female technical college students gave a good presentation. We want them to play an active role in society. We welcome women to the technical college.''We received high praise.

In the second half of the event, poster presentations were held by business people about their efforts towards gender equality and the success of female engineers. Female technical college students were intently watching and listening to each company's ingenious presentations, and some were heard actively asking questions.

Finally, a business card exchange session was held between business people and technical college faculty. It was a great opportunity for students to expand their network regarding future paths and career development, as well as exchange information on specialized skills.

The number of participants in the "Technical College Women's Forum in Kansai" was 35 people from 47 companies, 19 junior high school students, 30 parents (23 groups), 12 people from 20 schools, student staff, faculty and staff. Including the staff, we had a total of 203 people, and the event was a great success. We would like to thank everyone who attended and everyone involved.
