National Institute of Technology Scholarship
Scholarships offered by the National Institute of Technology and National Colleges of Technology include the Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship (formerly the Japan Scholarship Foundation Scholarship) and various scholarships (offered by corporations, foundations, businesses, etc.), which include both loan and grant types.

Amano Institute of Technology Scholarship
This scholarship, established in 2007 with funding from the Amano Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (Chairman: Junichi Kobayashi), is for fifth-year students at national colleges of technology. Eligibility requirements are: ① students whose academic performance at the end of their fourth year is in the top quarter of their department, ② students who have not received any disciplinary action in the past three years, and ③ students who are in need of financial assistance. The scholarship provides 40,000 yen per student per month for one year.
Ushio Foundation Scholarship
This is a scholarship provided by the Ushio Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, to students enrolled in majors. With the purpose of contributing to the development of human resources by supporting academic research, the grant is given to students who are enthusiastic about research, have a firm commitment to their studies, have good morals, and have excellent academic performance, but who are in need of scholarship funds. It primarily provides 50,000 yen per student per month to students of national colleges of technology located in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, for the minimum period of study from April of the year of employment until graduation from their undergraduate program or completion of their advanced course.
DMG MORI SEIKI Scholarship Fund[※Applications for new scholarship recipients closed as of fiscal year 2022]
This organization was established with donations from DMG MORI SEIKI GmbH (formerly Gildemeister GmbH) and DMG Mori Seiki Co., Ltd. (formerly Mori Seiki Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) in Germany. It primarily provides 50,000 yen per student per month to students of national colleges of technology located in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, for the minimum period of study from April of the year of employment until graduation from their undergraduate program or completion of their advanced course.
Ueda Memorial Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship, provided by the Ueda Memorial Foundation, is for fourth-year students and first-year students in advanced courses at national colleges of technology who are majoring in civil engineering. Eligibility requirements include having the intention to pursue a career utilizing civil engineering in the future, possessing excellent character and academic ability, being in good health, and being in need of financial assistance. The scholarship provides 40,000 yen per student per month and is generally awarded for two years until graduation or completion of studies.
Nikon Scholarship
This scholarship was established with a donation from Nikon Corporation. It is available to second-year, fourth-year, and first-year advanced course students of National Colleges of Technology who belong to one of the following departments: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Interdisciplinary Engineering, and Economics/Business. Eligibility requirements are that the student's academic performance in the previous year was within the top one-third of their department (or course in the case of interdisciplinary departments), and their household's total annual income is 7.3 million yen or less. The scholarship is 20,000 yen per month for undergraduate students and 30,000 yen per month for advanced course students, and is provided for two years.
Unicage Scholarship [※Applications for new scholarship recipients closed as of FY2025]
This scholarship was established with a donation from Universal Shell Programming Co., Ltd. It is a scholarship for students of National Colleges of Technology. To be eligible, students must have taken the Linux/Web online course offered by the institute, passed the examination in the year of selection, and be among the top 60 students in terms of academic performance. The scholarship provides 20,000 yen per month for undergraduate students and 30,000 yen per month for advanced course students, for two years.
Kandenko Scholarship
This scholarship was established with a donation from Kandenko Co., Ltd. It is a scholarship for third and fourth-year students of national colleges of technology in one of the following departments or courses: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, construction engineering, or architecture engineering. Eligibility requirements are: (1) the student intends to contribute to society by utilizing the skills and knowledge they have acquired to build social infrastructure; (2) the student has belonged to the same school-approved club or society and has continued extracurricular activities from their first year of school until the time of application; and (3) the student's household has a total annual income of 7.3 million yen or less. The scholarship provides 20,000 yen per student per month for one year.
Independence Support Admissions Support Grant
The fund was established with a donation from G.O.P. Co., Ltd. This is a grant for new students at national colleges of technology. Eligibility to apply includes being a highly motivated new student who will be far from their hometown and parents (more than 84,600 hours from home) and who will gain new knowledge in an unfamiliar place through life at a college of technology. Scholarship from the Japan Economic Research Institute (a general incorporated foundation)
Established in 2026 with funding from a donation from the Japan Economic Research Institute, this scholarship supports students who are studying civil engineering, architecture, environmental engineering, and urban engineering, and who intend to contribute to society through infrastructure development by utilizing the skills and knowledge they have acquired. It is available to undergraduate students in their second to fourth years and first-year students in the advanced course. The scholarship provides 20,000 yen per student per month for two years.
